All manner of vibrations are around us in our daily lives. For example, the vibrations produced by automobile tires, the vibrations of a train traveling over a track, the vibrations of electrical appliances and machines while they operate, and the seismic vibrations caused by earthquakes.
Amid the demand for improved performance and environmentally minded energy conservation in recent years, noise and vibration-free operation has become the requirement for all manner of products that have motors, such as household appliances, automobiles, and industrial equipment. As a result, machining accuracy is improving and size/weight reduction is advancing for rotating parts, while at the same time speeds are being increased in order to maintain the required power or capacity at smaller sizes. Size/weight reduction and accelerated speed, however, are the greatest causes of vibration and noise.
Balancing machines, which seek to improve balance, are becoming indispensable for the reduction of vibration.
